The Sunderland based mixed martial artist once again defended his KSW Heavyweight title against Darko Stosic at KSW 100 last weekend.
The CBDLife sponsored Heavyweight continues to make history under the KSW banner, having defended held the belt for 6 years, defending it an astonishing 11 times. The 38-year old currently finds himself on a 14 fight win streak, with his first round stoppage against Stosic last weekend being the seventh time in his last eight outings he has stopped his opponent inside the distance.
De Fries, who trains alongside the likes of UFC Heavyweight Mick Parkin and UFC interim Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, has had a complete career resurgence since signing with the Polish promotion. After joining the professional ranks back in 2009, De Fries made a name for himself on the regional circuit before signing with the UFC in 2011. Although he won his first contest inside the octagon, the TFT MMA man struggled to build a solid record and after going 2-3 overall with the promotion, he was released.
This saw De Fries back on the regional circuit for four years but earned another shot on the global scene when KSW came calling in 2017. In his first bout, he competed for the vacant Heavyweight title against top Polish athlete, Michal Andryszak at KSW 43. De Fries burst on the KSW scene with a first round finish to claim the title. Since then, he has never looked back, De Fries has looked like a different athlete. Throughout his success, the 38-year-old has opened up on how overcoming anxiety and believing in himself has monumentally changed his career.
In his most recent outing, De Fries travelled to Gliwice, Poland to face Stosic. The two previously met in 2022 at KSW 67 and Phil’s constant pressure and heavy top work proved to be too much as he forced Stosic to retire midway through the fifth round. This time round, it took Phil only 4:11 to get the win. Once again, De Fries’ incredible cardio and insane work rate proved to be too much and he earned yet another ground and pound stoppage.
Having been the first CBD brand to sponsor local athletes, Phil had been on the CBDLife radar for a long time and we were delighted when De Fries decided to join the CBDLife team back in 2021. The Heavyweight swears by our Life Essentials Lions Mane capsules before training and loves a range of our CBD Gummies post fight camp!
